Her songs come from the unique perspective of a queer woman\, a child of a refugee\, a resident of the precipice of the wilderness of Canada. The Yukon's Legends Variety Show! \nTo raise funds for the 50th Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race\, a lineup of legendary Yukon artists will be performing on the Diamond Tooth Gerties stage for one night of music\, dancing\, burlesque\, and more! All proceeds from this event will go to the Dawson City Dog Sports Club. \nHistory of the Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail RacePercy DeWolfe arrived in the Yukon in 1989\, only to find all of the good claims for gold were already taken. After a decade of fishing along the Yukon River\, the hardy Dawson character began to deliver the mail between Eagle\, Alaska and Dawson City\, Yukon in 1910 - 1949. Percy carried mail by dog team\, horse\, and by boat year round. Battling ice flows during freeze up and break up\, and the extreme winter weather in temperature of -50 below. Percy served his community courageously and in 1977\, the first Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race was held to commemorate his legacy and service. The Dawson City Dog Sports Club\, a non-profit organization\, hosts the race and ensures that Percy's legacy is remembered and celebrated to this day.

Since winning her first Juno Award in 2005 with her band Taima\, Elisapie’s body of work has been praised many times.  Elisapie unveiled Inuktitut (2023)\, her fourth solo record. He took the songs and dances of his people across the border to the old Tanacross village at Lake Mansfield\, Alaska\, entrusting his relatives to preserve them until the time was right. At this time\, the Hän people moved from Tr’ochëk\, their fish camp at the mouth of the Klondike and Yukon rivers\, to Moosehide Village where we celebrate the gathering today. \nThe Tanacross community and extended family members held Chief Isaac’s songs for our people for many decades until we were ready to reclaim them. The 1991 Yukon Aboriginal Languages Conference provided inspiration for the renewal of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in culture. Our main objective was to revitalize Hän history\, songs\, dances\, and traditional dress. That same year\, we held a weekend camp to bring people together and enjoy each other’s company. \nIn 1992\, a group of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in people travelled to Tanacross to observe and learn how to host a large traditional gathering. It was then that they began learning long-forgotten Hän songs and dances. \nCommitted to revitalizing our ancestors’ celebrations\, the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in hosted the first Moosehide Gathering in 1993. Moosehide Gathering is a celebration of our culture and honoring of our heritage\, our ancestors\, and our future. We invite everyone to join us at Moosehide to share our stories\, songs\, and dances\, enjoy local and guest performers\, and the tasty feasts prepared by our cooks. Gameplay will include rounds at Crocus Bluff Disc Golf Course and Moose Mountain\, with the number of holes and layout varying depending on the division you enter.
