Diamond Tooth Gerties is Canada’s first and oldest gambling hall, and the only casino in the North. It is named after Gertie Lovejoy, a woman who became known as Diamond Tooth Gertie during the Gold Rush. She was well-known for the sparkling diamond placed between her two front teeth, and became the namesake for the casino when it was re-purposed as such in 1971. A fun fact about Miss. Gertie Lovejoy that while she was known as a good-time girl during her years in Dawson, she became a Christian Scientist in 1926.
