A true community event; we come alive and host a variety of games\, from the serious\, to ridiculous\, to simply outrageous. Thaw di Gras Spring Carnival truly has something for everyone! Whether you're looking to toss an axe\, race a dog team\, or find a loonie in a haystack\, we've got an event for you. Best of all\, almost every event is FREE! \nSo\, what are you waiting for?! Come experience a true carnival atmosphere\, with over 25 events happening in a square kilometer\, you're sure to have an amazing time! \nWeekend events often include: \n\nDCMF Lip Sync Competition- Take the big stage at Diamond Tooth Gerties and show off your lip syncing skills!  Costumes and hillarity are a given!\nRoad Hockey Tournament- Teams of four battle it out on the frozen gravel streets of Dawson.\nSunnydale Classic Dog Sled and Skijor Races- Test yourself and your pooch(es) in a race around West Dawson.\nAdult Tricycle Races- Race around a bar on an adult sized tricycle and see if you've still got your "big wheels" skills.\nThe Hat Toss- Think you can throw a hat onto a mounted cow's head? Let's see it!\nChili Cook-Off-  Battle the elements to chop\, cook and serve chili to the masses. Best chili is voted by crowd popularity and judges.\nSnow Sculptures- Show off your artistic skills in this 48 hour showdown!\nLog Toss- Chuck a log the furthest to win.\nGreat KVA Egg Toss- Teams of two throw an egg back and forth. It was an intimate\, two-day affair among friends\, comprising a jam session on a West Dawson farm and a dance at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s. Quickly realizing that the Festival was too good a secret to keep\, an enterprising band of local volunteers incorporated the Dawson City Music Festival Association in 1980\, and received charitable status in 1986. \nSince then\, the event Vancouver’s Georgia Straight dubbed as “Canada’s tiny\, perfect Festival” has developed a reputation as one of the nation’s premiere musical events\, but its strengths have remained the same: unparalleled intimacy\, grassroots spirit\, fabulous Klondike hospitality\, and the best concerts North of 60! \nCome join us in celebrating DCMF under the Midnight Sun!

Their Discovery of gold led to one of the world's greatest gold rush stampedes\, where nearly 100\,000 people migrated north in an attempt to strike it rich during the Klondike Gold Rush. \n\nToday\, Yukon celebrates our grand history with a weekend festival in Dawson City\, known as Discovery Days.
